Poetic Origins

Today, I found out that one of my favorite childhood movies, The Man from Snowy River, started with a poem. The story of the ride to capture the brumbies (wild horses) as well as some of the characters and background comes from the 1890 poem “The Man from Snowy River.” Granted, I’m not as impressed with the poem as I am with the movie (I may be biased), but it’s pretty funny that I found this out the same week I posted “Poetry in Movies & More” to discuss how poetry is everywhere.
