5 Great Stephen King Quotes about Writing
I have yet to read Stephen King’s On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, but from all signs, these 5 great Stephen King quotes about writing are just the metaphorical tip of the iceberg.
So… I think I’ll have to give it a go.
1. Stephen King Quote “Description begins…”
This is something that changed dramatically from my childhood interpretation of books to my adult reaction. I used to hate any kind of description that was ambiguous – I wanted to know exactly what was going on.
Now, I can see the value (and artistry) of leaving more to the imagination.
2. “Fiction is the truth inside the lie.”
Very thought-provoking (as many seeming contradictions are).
3. “The road to hell…” Stephen King Quote
Hmmm… does this mean that adverbs are good intentions? That’s actually a rather interesting comparison. After all, good intentions can have excellent results sometimes and horrible results other times.
Kind of like adverbs.
4. “If you don’t have time to read…”
Seriously, what writer doesn’t have time to read?
Ok. Maybe, we don’t really have time to read. But we do it anyway. 😉
5. “The scariest moment…” Stephen King Quote

I have to agree. And there are many starts when writing a novel. Planning. Writing. Editing. Selling.
Each scene, each idea, even each character can have starts that bring you back to that basic human fear that you will somehow do it wrong.
Do it anyway.
