The Food in Studio Ghibli Movies & Avatar: The Last Airbender

So…yesterday’s post left me thinking about food. Since I’ve already talked about some recipes from J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling’s worlds, I figured that it would be fair to share some that people have created or recognized from Studio Ghibli and Avatar: The Last Airbender (a series I should’ve thought to use in “10 Examples of Worldbuilding with Food in Books & Film” yesterday. Rats.).

For foods from Miyazaki’s movies (A.K.A. Studio Ghibli films), I like this BuzzFeed article by Christina Lan (“Here’s How to Eat Everything You’ve Ever Wanted from a Miyazaki Film“). While it’s not necessarily everything I’ve ever wanted to try, it’s a good start, and each dish is shown with both the animated drawing, a picture, and a recipe for it. Oh, boy, oh, boy!

As far as Avatar is concerned, the Starving Chef has come up with an impressive number of recipes from both the original series and the sequel. There are recipes from all the different nations, and they are inspired by an interesting mix of real cultural cooking styles. You can check them out here: The Starving Chef’s Avatar Recipes.

That’s it for today. Happy eating!
